Clutter.

Anyone in real estate knows that clutter is a big no-no. The first thing you tell a seller before they list their home is to, “Get rid of all the clutter, so that a buyer can see the potential in the house.”

In other words, “If too much crap is in the way, a buyer will have a hard time seeing the home for what it is.”

Stay with me.

You know I love finding the parallels between real estate and faith. They are my two passions, and they intertwine in many ways. Here is the metaphor:

Your mind is your home. And when your minds gets too cluttered, you can’t see life for what it really is.

Romans 12:2 says, “renew your mind.” This is a command, meaning, we NEED it. It is critical. We have to immerse ourselves in God’s Word every day. Every day, even when we don’t feel like it. Our perspectives, our joy, our energy – all of it is determined by our minds.

I used to be very diligent about reading my Bible. But over the last few months, I have gotten away from the habit. Let me tell you – I can tell a huge difference in my perspective. It significantly worsened. The last few days I have forced myself to take some purposeful time with Jesus, and it has been the refresher that I so desperately needed. I believe it is that simple.

“Come to the water, all who are thirsty...” –Isaiah 55:1

He says He will fill us. But first we have to actually GO to the water. Go to the water each day to renew your mind and be filled.

Declutter your house to see potential; Declutter your mind to see joy.

Thank you for reading – I pray this reached you in some way.
